• Reflections on Vergennes

This is a fundraiser for the Vergennes Lions Club to benefit some of the work we do in the community. Like all funds we raise in the community, all profits from this project will be returned to the community as part of our service projects, perhaps as scholarships, help for the sight impaired, or ramps for those who need help getting into and out of their homes.
  • The Art

The Vergennes Lions Club asked a number of gifted local artists to decorate mirrors with a work that in someway reflects on Vergennes. They've come through brilliantly for us, as you can see.
  • The Artist Reception

Come meet the artists and view the art up close at the Open House and Artist Reception on Thursday, July 16th from 6-8pm at the Basin Block.
  • The Auction

You can own one or more of these mirrors! A silent auction willl be held on Saturday, July 18th during French Heritage Days - from 11-4 - in the Basin Block next to EveryWear. Join us!
  • Vergennes Lions Club

The Vergennes Lions Club was chartered in November 1954 with 24 members, having been sponsored by the Middlebury Lions Club. At this time, the Vergennes club is the largest Lions Club in Vermont with nearly 90 members.
  • The Work of the VLC

Over the past 54 plus years, the club has contributed well over $500,000 to the Vergennes area communities. Even though the primary mission has always been sight conservation, where funds are donated for eyeglasses, eye exams, and eye operations, the club has also donated funds for hearing aids for needy folks, winter clothing for elementary school children, funds for Bixby Library, Porter Hospital, Vergennes Area Rescue Squad, Project Independence, Boys and Girls Club, elementary school playgrounds, city parks, holiday food baskets for shut-ins, many handicap accessible ramps, supporting the Vergennes Community Food Shelf, etc. One of the biggest projects is the Lions Club Scholarship Fund which, in recent years, has given five $1,000 scholarships to graduating seniors at Vergennes Union High School.
  • Lions Club International

The Vergennes Lions Club is a part of the International Association of Lions Clubs which was started in 1918 by Melvin Jones in Chicago. Today, there are over 1.3 million members in over 45,000 clubs in 743 districts in 205 countries and geographical locations around the world. Lions Clubs International are the largest and most active service club.
